Worldwide, developed and developing countries are facing the double burden of communicable and However, developing countries are more exposed and more vulnerable due to a multitude of factors, including geographic, demographic and socio-economic factors. Noncommunicable diseases like cardio-vascular diseases, cancer, diabetes, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease and mental disorders are affecting developing countries with an increasing trend.

Probability of death is plotted globally by SDI quintile and Global Disease Burden study region for dashed vertical line and solid vertical line. The relative contribution of that change owing to different causes is indicated by different color bars. The SDI quintiles are sorted from lowest probability of death in to highest, and GBD regions are sorted from highest probability of death in to lowest. Temporal trends in disability adjusted life-years DALYs are plotted for children and adolescents younger than 20 years. Global trends are plotted in the top left subpanel, and the corresponding trends for each SDI quintile are plotted in the next 5 subpanels.

Metrics details. Living with a chronic disease often means experiencing chronic treatments and regular multidisciplinary monitoring as well as a profound life-changing experience which may impact all aspects of a patients life. The purpose of this review was to collect and review different kinds of available PRM instruments validated for chronic patients, to produce an inventory of explored concepts in these questionnaires and to identify and classify all dimensions assessing chronic patients experience. A systematic review of PRM instruments validated for chronic patients was conducted from three databases Medline, the Cochrane library, and Psycinfo. Articles were selected after a double reading and questionnaires were classified according to their targeted concept. Then, all dimensions of the questionnaires were clustered into different categories. Twelve categories of dimensions were obtained from these instruments.
Avani C. Modi, MS, Alexandra L. Results Multitrait analyses indicated that a majority of items on the CFQ-Child correlated more highly with their hypothesized scale than a competing scale. Results also suggested strong convergence between child and parent-proxy reports on several scales of the CFQ. Cystic fibrosis CF is the most common fatal, autosomal recessive disorder of Caucasian populations.

These instruments are useful for evaluating interventions designed to improve the lives of children and adolescents. The CP QOL-Child was first designed to assess the quality of life of children with cerebral palsy aged years and an adolescent version, the CP QOL-Teen, has recently been developed for adolescents aged years. For further information about the development of the instruments, please refer to our publications. There is an adolescent self-report version and a primary caregiver version. The questionnaires are made freely available to researchers and can be downloaded above.

The impact of illness on individual lives and society at large was once considered too vast to gauge. More recently, quantitative measures of quality of life, life expectancy, and the financial costs of illness and treatment are showing not only how this impact can be calculated but also how the results can be used to further research and improve public health.

However, mortality figures give only a partial measure of the toll asked by infectious diseases, and the global burden includes also health impact measured by disabilities, deformities, loss of productivity, care and treatment caused by a multitude of diseases like lymphatic filariasis, leishmaniasis, schistosomiasis, sleeping sickness and others. The impact of infectious diseases can be traced according to economic performance of African countries, showing that 34 out of 53 countries are classified as low-income economies. The disease burden is, however, more devastating since it affects all components of human development, including income, health and education. The impact of infectious diseases on African countries is no longer a crisis only for the healthcare sector, but presents a challenge to all sectors.
